Primary Election 2024: Early Results

Thank you to everyone who voted in the March 19 Primary Election, and a special thanks to all who served as election workers or volunteered to register and educate voters.

The Chicago Board of Elections and the Cook County Election Division continue to process Vote By Mail ballots as they are received. Ballots must be postmarked by 7 pm on March 19 and received by April 2 to be included in the count.

Here’s a snapshot of the results as of 8 am on Monday, March 25:

  • The county-wide contest for Cook County State’s Attorney is still too close to call. Out of over 516 thousand votes, the two candidates are separated by only 2,000 votes.

  • The Bring Chicago Home referendum did not pass, with 47.70% voting Yes and 52.30% voting No.

  • Voter turnout for Chicago is 25.3%.

  • Voter turnout statewide is also reported to be the lowest in 10 years.
