Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion Group

Once again, the Chicago League will be sponsoring an afternoon Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion group. There are no tests, no papers to write. You need know nothing about any of the topics. This is just a great way to learn a little about some key foreign policy issues facing our country and get to know and become friends with the other participants.

Participants will utilize the non-partisan Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions booklet containing short articles (10-12 pages) and suggested discussion questions, along with video lectures, about different foreign policy topics. This year’s program features eight topics: Energy Geopolitics; War Crimes; China and the U.S.; Economic Warfare; Politics in Latin America; Global Famine; Iran at a Crossroads; and Climate Migration.

The plan is to meet in person at the Aqua Tower in downtown Chicago (225 N. Columbus Dr.) twice a month on Monday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm, from February through May.

There is also a Great Decisions group that meets on the Northside at Sulzer Library (4455 N. Lincoln Avenue), beginning March 20 and running through May 8. More information on this group will be made available soon. If you are interested in the Northside group, please indicate so in the form below.

Each participant will need to purchase their own copy of the 2022 Great Decisions book from the Foreign Policy Association at www.fpa.org. In the past several years, there has also been an option to purchase an ebook version, though that information is usually not available until mid-January, from Amazon, Apple Books, or Barnes & Noble. Cost of the paper version of the booklet is $35 plus shipping. Check with the online suppliers for the cost of the ebook when it becomes available.

If you are interested in participating or want more information, please fill out the form below no later than January 30.
