Your Chance to Comment on Ward Map Redistricting

If ten alderpersons support the independent Chicago Advisory Redistricting Commission’s final People’s Map, it would trigger a special election to allow Chicago voters to choose the ward redistricting map they want and determine how they will be represented for the next ten years.

As you consider the configuration of your own ward, and others across the city, keep in mind that communities of interest, both residential and commercial, are best served when they are within a single ward.

The League supports the concept of having an independent commission draw ward maps. However, LWV Chicago does not have the expertise to evaluate specific map proposals and therefore does not take a position on the People's Map.

If you have comments about redistricting plans or the map drawn by the Chicago Advisory Redistricting Commission, please contact your alderperson.
