Changing the City Council Rules

In a statement released Tuesday, March 21, LWV Chicago and the Better Government Association announced our support for a more independent Chicago City Council, but cautioned against letting the current body set the rules for the incoming membership.

On Monday, March 27, LWV Chicago sent a follow-up letter to the City Council detailing our recommendations for changes to the City Council Rules in order to initiate a conversation for the new Council, which will take office in May. Read the letter.
