It’s Official! February 28 Election Vote Totals
The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners has certified the results of the February 28 Municipal Election. Here are the totals:
The turnout for the city as a whole was 36%.
For Mayor: Paul Vallas received 185,743 votes, 33% of all votes cast. Brandon Johnson received 122,093 votes (22%), incumbent Lori Lightfoot received 94,890 votes (17%), and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia received 77,222 votes (14%). All other candidates garnered less than 10% of votes cast.
For Alderperson: 32 incumbents were reelected, four new alderpersons were elected, and six incumbents are in runoffs.
Runoffs: In addition to the runoff election for mayor, runoff elections will be held for alderperson in 14 wards. Six of these races include incumbents: 4, 5, 6, 10, 11*, 21, 24*, 29*, 30, 36*, 43*, 45*, 46, and 48.

More voting statistics:
47.57% of people voted on Election Day: 248,773 ballots were cast in voters’ home precincts, and 20,948 ballots were cast at Vote Centers
23.25% of people voted early: 131,806 ballots were cast during the Early Voting period before Election Day
29.18% of people voted by mail: 165,446 ballots were cast by Vote By Mail
