Have Your Say in Policing

Chicago’s Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability is searching for candidates to nominate for police superintendent, and they want to know what YOU think! Take the survey to tell them what they should look for when they interview candidates. How should the next superintendent build a relationship with the people of Chicago? How should they address crime and public safety?

You can also email the Community Commission at superintendentsearch@cityofchicago.org to ask questions, voice concerns or support, or tell them something relevant to the superintendent search. The Community Commission has so far hosted three public forums regarding their candidate search, which you can view on their YouTube channel. Their next meeting about the superintendent is on May 22 at the Beverly Arts Center (2407 W 111th St.), from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The superintendent position is currently held by an interim superintendent, Fred Waller, who has said he does not intend to apply for the long-term job. Applications closed on May 7, and the Community Commission will announce three nominations by July 14 for Mayor Johnson to choose between.
