Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

 How You Can Help

Help us increase participation in elections!

Spread the Word

Make sure the people in your community know about the election! Help them register to vote and learn about what’s on their ballot. We have some informational resources that you can hand out or display:

Work a Registration Drive

Help us register voters and answer voters' questions at our voter registration drives. You must be a League member to volunteer.

Work the Election

Judges of Election are paid to manage the precinct polling place and assist voters. Any U.S. citizen aged 16 or older may serve as an election judge with the appropriate training. Unemployed individuals who serve as judges will not jeopardize their unemployment benefits. Learn more.

There may also be paid positions available for the months leading up to the election. You can serve as an election worker during Early Voting or in the Board of Election Commissioners' office and warehouse. Learn more.

Become a Deputy Registrar

Deputy Registrars are trained by the Chicago Board of Elections and certified to register voters in Illinois. All DVR trainings take place online. You must be a League member to be sponsored by LWV Chicago. We will submit the required letter to the Chicago Board of Elections on your behalf, and then you will receive the link to take the training. Fill out this form to join our voter registration team and opt in to the Deputy Registrar training.

Volunteer to Poll Watch

We will have credentials for members to poll watch for Early Voting, Election Day, and the processing of Vote by Mail ballots. Contact league@lwvchicago.org if you would like to volunteer. You must be a LWV Chicago member to be credentialed by LWV Chicago.

Moderate Candidate Forums

We train volunteers to moderate candidate forums and debates. If you are interested in moderating an event or asking League members to moderate your event, please contact league@lwvchicago.org.
