New Energy and Focus for 2022

As we usher in a new year, LWV Chicago’s Board has addressed priorities and created actionable goals as we slowly return to a more normal functioning.

The board is developing a framework for the second half of the membership year that will improve communications within and outside the organization to emphasize the League’s actions and successful impact; increase membership and participation in League activities; remind the general public of all the League does for the community; and secure LWV Chicago’s financial future.

Following are issues that have been identified as our priorities for education and action:

  • Municipal redistricting

  • Voting rights, particularly in Illinois prisons

  • Police reform and public safety

  • Environment, with particular emphasis on confronting plastics as an environmental hazard

  • Greater transparency in city government

  • Collaboration with partner groups on issues of concern

We encourage members to participate in our ongoing, active committees and programs. If you have an interest in getting involved, contact us at league@lwvchicago.org to get started today.

Watch our communications for more in-depth information on these plans. Also, check out our new vibrant, user-friendlier website, debuting in late December.
