Vote By Mail

It is now possible to request your Vote By Mail (VBM) ballot from the Chicago Board of Elections website for the November 8 General Election.

Once you request your VBM ballot for the next election, you may then request to be placed on the VBM list for future elections. If you are already on the VBM list, you will receive your ballot after September 29.

Chicago Redistricting

The process to place addresses in the redistricted Chicago wards and precincts has been completed. The number of precincts has been reduced from 2,069 to 1,290. There may be as many as 1,800 registered voters in any one precinct. This adjustment reduces the total number of election judges needed.

New Voter ID Cards

The expected date when the Chicago Board of Elections will be sending voters their new voter cards has been changed. The period has tentatively been set as August 27 to 30.

Candidate Nominating Petitions

The work to update the information about the redistricted Chicago wards and precincts is progressing. This information is necessary for the candidates who are planning to run in the election on February 28, 2023, so they know the information needed to properly circulate. The start date for circulating nominating petitions is August 30.
