Fair Elections Chicago Launches “No Ice $$$ in Chicago Elections” Pledge
Coalition of election protection organizations calls on Chicago City Council members to reject campaign cash from corporations that profit from or enable federal immigration enforcement
CHICAGO — Fair Elections Chicago, a coalition of 28 civic, democracy and immigrant-rights organizations, today launched the “No ICE $$$ in Chicago Elections” pledge, calling on Chicago elected officials and candidates to reject campaign contributions from corporations that profit from or materially support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol operations.
To date, 12 alderpeople have added their signature to the pledge, committing to reject future donations through the end of this election cycle from 12 named corporations and political action committees, as well as their chief executives.

The campaign connects two urgent concerns for Chicagoans: the human toll of the Trump Administration’s extreme immigration enforcement campaign and the influence of corporate money in local elections. ICE has torn apart families, hurt small businesses, reduced school attendance and eroded trust in law enforcement and the rule of law.
“Chicago elections should be powered by people, not profits from fear,” said Jane Ruby, President of the League of Women Voters of Chicago. “Signing this pledge is a concrete way for alders to stand with immigrant families, protect public trust and show that corporate money cannot purchase silence.”
“Our neighbors are living with the fear and violence created by this enforcement machine, while corporations treat it as a revenue stream,” said Fred Tsao, Senior Policy Counsel, Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. “Chicago officials should not accept political money from companies helping make those abuses possible.”
Chicago alders are urged to sign the pledge at ICEOutChicago.org. Community members should visit the site, see whether their alder has signed and contact their ward office with a clear message: reject campaign cash from companies enabling ICE and Border Patrol abuses.
