The LWV Chicago Environmental Action Committee (EAC) hosted a Briefing on Saturday, April 9 featuring two expert speakers.

Paloma Paez-Coombe of Environment Illinois shared with us information on the strategies and future plans for the Illinois statewide Coalition for Plastic Reduction (CPR). We invite all readers to please check out our Tips & Tricks for reducing the plastic in your lives.

LWV Chicago is an affiliate and an active member of the CPR, and EAC Co-chair Claudia Jackson is on its steering committee. LWV Chicago is also part of the new Chicago CPR group with other environmental organizations in the city focused on plastic reduction.

Laura Davis, LWVIL Climate Change Issue Specialist, talked with us about the Cook County Forest Preserves and the upcoming referendum on the November ballot. Davis introduced attendees to the Vote Yes for the Forest preserve Coalition of which LWV Chicago is also an active coalition member.
