After taking last year off, the League-sponsored Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussions will begin again, running from February through May 2022.
There are no tests, no papers to write. You need not know anything about the topics. This is just a great way to learn a little about some key foreign policy issues facing our country and get to know your fellow Leaguers.
We'll use the non-partisan Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions booklet containing short articles (10-12 pages) and suggested discussion questions, along with video lectures, about different foreign policy topics. This year’s program features nine topics: Changing Demographics, Outer Space, Climate Change, Russia, Myanmar and ASEAN, The Quad Alliance, Industrial Policy, Drug Policy and Latin America, and Biden’s Agenda.
The plan is to meet in person in the Aqua Tower in downtown Chicago about every other week on Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm, starting February 1. We are asking that only fully vaccinated members sign up.
Each participant will need to purchase their own copy of the 2022 Great Decisions book OR purchase the e-book version, which should be available mid-January from Amazon, Apple Books, or Barnes & Noble. Cost of the paper version of the booklet is $35 plus shipping. Check with the online suppliers for the cost of the e-book when it becomes available.
If you are interested in participating or want more information, please fill out the form below no later than January 20.
