Once again, the Chicago League will be sponsoring an afternoon Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion group. There are no tests, no papers to write. You need know nothing about any of the topics. This is just a great way to learn a little about some key foreign policy issues facing our country and get to know and become friends with the other participants.
Participants will utilize the nonpartisan Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions booklet containing short articles (10-12 pages) and suggested discussion questions, along with video lectures, about different foreign policy topics.
This year’s program features eight topics:
America and the World: Trump 2.0 Foreign Policy
Trump Tariffs and the Future of the World Economy
U.S.-China Relations
Ruptured Alliances and the Risk of Nuclear Proliferation
Ukraine and the Future of European Security
Multilateral Institutions in a Changing World Order
U.S. Engagement of Africa
The Future of Human Rights and International Law
The plan is to meet in person in the Aqua Tower in downtown Chicago every other week on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3:00 pm, beginning February 10, with the last session in May.
Each participant will need to purchase their own copy of the 2026 Great Decisions book. Pre-orders can be made now, with shipping around January 1. Cost of the paper version of the booklet is $35 plus shipping. There will also likely be an option to purchase an E-book version, which should be available mid-January.
If you are interested in participating or want more information, please fill out the form below no later than January 25.
