Join us for an open Zoom meeting to propose speakers for this year’s Chicago in Focus (CiF) events. CiF programs, co-hosted with the Union League Club of Chicago, provide in-depth explorations of current political opportunities and challenges in Chicago.
The Union League Club regularly hosts events focused on civic engagement, race relations, education and gender equality. Last year, we co-sponsored events on filibuster reform, the newly passed Empowering Communities for Public Safety Ordinance, clean energy, jobs and the Illinois environment. In the past, we have also had events on community policing and on efforts within the Chicago Public Schools to counter the racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, homophobia and sexism of white nationalism.
CiF events are held monthly from September–November and January–April. These programs take place during the week from 6:00–7:00 pm. At each event, there is time for detailed presentations by leaders in crucial areas of Chicago civic life, along with a question and answer session facilitated by a member of the League. During the pandemic, events were held via Zoom. We hope to soon return to in person meetings that are hosted at the Union League Club.
If you have ideas of possible topics and speakers, please join us. If you are unable to attend and have ideas, please send them to Sharon Welch and they will be shared during the meeting.
