Forest Preserves

Chicago in Focus is live and in person again (as well as Zoom). On Thursday, October 6, a group of us met at the Union League Club to hear Benjamin Cox, Executive Director of the Friends of the Cook County Forest Preserves, and Iza Redlinski, Deputy Director of Resource Management for the Forest Preserves of Cook County. Our moderator for the evening was Matt Evans, Managing Ecologist, Woodlands at the Chicago Botanic Garden.

We learned about the history and importance of the Forest Preserves to Cook County, the benefits of which include cleaner air and water in addition to over 350 miles of woodland trails. We also learned about the very important VOTE YES referendum to fund the Forest Preserves on our November ballots. If you were not able to join us, please watch the recording above.

Speakers Benjamin Cox, Iza Redlinski, and Matt Evans join LWV Chicago Environmental Action Committee Chair Debby Halpern and President Jane Ruby.
