Final Runoff Election Results

The Chicago Board of Elections will certify the results of the Municipal Election Runoff on Tuesday, April 25.

Turnout (613,795 voters) for the April 4 Municipal Runoff Election was 38.7%. This is more than the 33.1% turnout for the Runoff in 2019. There were about 33,000 VBM ballots requested but not returned. 

Brandon Johnson was elected mayor, receiving 52% of the votes. Six incumbent alderpersons were reelected in the runoff. Three of those had been appointed by Mayor Lightfoot.

The mayor, city clerk, city treasurer and alderpersons will begin their terms May 15. The new City Council will have thirteen new alderpersons. They will represent the 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 21st, 26th, 30th, 34th, 44th, 46th, and 48th wards.

LWV Chicago participated in seventeen candidate forums before the February election and six forums before the runoff.
